Nursery
Half Term 3:
Phonics:
In our Phonics lesson we learnt how to play buried treasure. We had to dig through the sand to find a picture and think of the word we needed. We worked on saying the word correctly and considered the initial sound!
Maths:
We had so much fun playing in Maths today. We looked at recognising the numerals '1', '2' and '3' as well as getting the correct amount of objects when asked. We all sat down and waited to see the numeral, then we ran off to find some objects to match.
R.E.:
We started our new school term by celebrating the Epiphany. We used our Nativity figures to help us retell the story and then made some beautiful crowns, just like the ones a King may wear. We wore our crowns home so we could tell our family about the story.
Big Mark Making:
We love getting the big rolls of paper our and drawing on them. We use felt tip pens in lovely bright colours and spend time chatting to our friends about what we are drawing.
A visit to Santa’s Grotto:

Wow! It was so exciting for us all to see some snow. We loved going outside to explore it but after a while, we started to get a bit cold.
R.E.:
We spent some time making poppies and learnt about Remembrance Day. We watched a short video clip about a little rabbit in a field to help us develop our understanding.
English:
We are reading a lovely book called 'The Way Back Home'. We looked at the alien in the story and then had a go at describing other aliens.
Diwali:
We have spent some time learning all about Diwali and how it is the festival of light. We made Rangoli patterns, Diya lamps, sang songs and tried some yummy food!
Phonics:
We learnt about Body Percussion and how we can make noises using our mouth, hands and feet. We took it in turn to make noises and then copied each other. It was so much fun!

We had a lot of fun exploring pumpkins. Some of us felt the seeds and noticed they were slimy, some of us said the pumpkin smelt nice!
Yoga time:
It was so wet the other day that we couldn't even begin to go outside! We really wanted to move our bodies so we did some yoga.
A fun run with Year 6:
We took part in a special charity run to show support for MND. We ran 3 laps of the school grounds with our friends in Nursery and Year 6. We were exhausted after and had to have snack straight away!
Maths:
We made some pictures using shapes after reading our new book!
Phonics:
We played a game where we had to listen to different animal sounds. We had to use our listening ears really carefully.

We read the story of Creation today in R.E. and we thought about all of the amazing animals that God made. We said 'thank you' to God for the animals and shared our favourite. We then painted a picture to stick up on our display board.
Music Time:
We loved playing with the musical instruments. We worked on starting and stopping at the same time.
